Getting there from Melbourne: The drive is 375 kilometres or about 4.5 hours. Take the Hume Freeway and turn for Milawa and the Snow Road a few kilometres after the Glenrowan West Service Centres. There are two options at Myrtleford – take the Wodonga Road through Mudgegonga and Tunnel Gap, turning for Mount Beauty just north of Dederang. The other option is more common (but has more winding road) – drive through Myrtleford and turn for Mount Beauty at Ovens. If you want to go all the way through to Bright, Mount Beauty can be accessed via the Tawonga Gap. Falls Creek is 28 kilometres from Mount Beauty.
Getting there from Sydney: the trip is about eight hours or 690 kilometres. Take the Hume Freeway to Wodonga and then the Kiewa Valley Highway to Mount Beauty.
Chains must be carried in winter.
