Getting there from Melbourne: About 360 kilometres or 4.5 hours via Milawa, Myrtleford and Harrietville along the multi-lane Hume Highway/Freeway and then single-lane highway. Alternate route is via Bairnsdale, Omeo and Dinner Plain, about 460 kilometres or six hours along multi-laned Princes Highway and then single-lane highway that becomes very windy on the approach into Omeo.
Getting there from Sydney: About 750 kilometres or nine hours via Albury-Wodonga, Yackandandah, Myrtleford and Harrietville along the multi-laned Hume Highway/Freeway and single-lane highway.
Chains: Last chance is at Bright and Harrietville; from the opposite approach last chance is at Omeo.
Airports/transport: QantasLink has scheduled winter flights to Mount Hotham airport (25 minutes from resort) from Melbourne and Sydney on Dash 8 36-seat aircraft. Private charter flights can also fly in and are worth considering if you can split costs with others. Some charter operators are listed on Mount Hotham’s web site.
